Joy of making your own biscuits

Everyone Burns the first Biscuits

The joy of making your own biscuits. The idea of cooking to some people is a scary operation but with a little practice you can become confident that if needed you can make a simple food, that can be wrapped in a dish cloth and get you through the day.

 The primary biscuit ingredients are:

    2 Cups of common Flower

    4 Teaspoons baking powder

    ¼ teaspoon baking soda

    1 teaspoon salt

    4 tablespoons of butter

    ¾ cup milk

 Now the cooking part:

Start by Preheating the oven to 450 degrees.

While that’s warming up Sift flour into bowl and add, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar together in a large bowl.  Mix with your fingers.  Melt the butter in a small pan then add it to the milk.

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture, then slowly pour in part of the butter and milk and stir. Add just enough to make a soft dough.

Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead, roll and pat to shape into a slab of dough about a half-inch thick.

Use a biscuit cutter (round glass top works) to cut out as many rounds as possible. Pull scraps together and roll into a smaller slab to cut additional biscuits.

Place biscuits on a parchment-lined baking sheet so they are touching. Brush tops with butter (optional).

Bake 10-12 minutes until biscuits have risen and tops are lightly browned.

Pro Tip, wash your pans and utensils while the biscuits are cooking

I suggest learning how to make biscuits at least once a week, once you got that down pat look for other mixes and spice changes. You wouldn’t want to get caught eating the same bread every day.
